Leaving Things to Chants with Jay Janell
Friday, March 8th @ 6:30-8pm
$25 advance / $30 day of

Doors open at 6:15pm

Singing together is central to spiritual community.  We will learn some chants from Hindu, Kundalini, Taizé, African American, and Jewish traditions.  We will learn some of the spiritual and scientific teachings about mantra.  But most of all, we will sing and witness these chants for ourselves.  They are easy!  It doesn’t matter whether you think you can sing.  Bring whatever you need to sit comfortably, like a mat, zafu or pillow.  Bolsters and blankets are also available at the studio.  Some chants call for movement, so we will have a break from sitting.

Jay Janell has been a pianist, church organist, and choral director for 40 years and has a life-long curiosity about spiritual music from different cultures.  In recent years, mantra meditation has become a central part of his spiritual practice.

Please bring meditation cushion or similar to sit on

This workshop will be rescheduled to a new date this spring!
